3、Mechanism and clinical use:
Sodium Fusidate is manufactured by salification reaction of sodium hydroxide and Fusidic Acid, the latter is extracted from the fermentation broth of Fusidium coccineum. It is a narrow-spectrum, high-efficiency and anti gram-positive bacteria antibiotic widely used in foreign countries.
Sodium Fusidate produces antibacterial effect by inhibiting bacteria protein synthesis. Sodium Fusidate keeps relatively strong antibacterial activity and very low resistance to most staphylococcus strain, more and more receives people’s attention, and becomes new selection of anti resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).
Sodium Fusidate is mainly used for treatment of infections incurred by all kinds of sensitive bacteria, especially by staphylococcus. Its toxicity is very low, and it has no cross anaphylaxis with other antibacterial drugs. It can be used to patients who have taboo to other antibiotics, such as penicillin.
